I have been pretty depressed about baseball this winter. I even put my bobble head collection in storage. Part of it was because of the Shohei Ohtani trade - not exactly because he was traded, but I'm not good with change. And it was great fun to have Ohtani on our team. And while I understand that baseball is a business, it's hard for me when players that I get attached to decide to move on for more $ or better prospects. And that happens when you root for a team that hasn't had a winning season in a while... like the Angels -- even with Trout and Ohtani on the same team! And people are very upset with our owner, too, so that makes me feel upset as if there's not much we can do if the guy in charge isn't willing to make it happen.
Ok. Rant over. Tonight was my first step back into baseball this season - and I have Paul to thank for that. It was great to be in the stadium. Great to see my Angels on the field, and our new coach, Ron Washington. And even Shohei Ohtani in a blue uniform. Plus, I made a new Angel friend at the stadium, had a Dodger dog, and chatted with Paul about all things baseball.
It doesn't get much better than that.
