Good Bye to the Historic Westwood Movie Theaters

A few notes:

  1. Oh Lord. I didn't check my hair or make up before I filmed this.

  2. It might seem like I am always going to the doctor. I am. šŸ¤£

  3. If these theaters are "Historic" I am wondering if that makes me "Historic." Maybe just histrionic! (See above.)

  4. I couldn't get inside the theaters because it was before the noon showing, and they were not yet open. But I do know that inside they are as beautiful and historic as they are outside. I wonder what they will do with these properties - and if they have been given the distinction of a historical buidling so that they can't be torn down.

  5. Two movie theaters that I know of...the La Reina in Sherman Oaks, and the Loyola in Westchester, no longer operate as theaters but have been convereted into other things. The La Reina is a "Blue Medi-Spa" Skin Care/Wellness faciilty. That just seems weird. And The Loyola is just a non-descript office building with a box office out front!

  6. Sometimes, just sometimes, I miss the good old days.

Ah, I'm sad to hear that those two grand dame theaters will be closing. They're magnificent examples of classic movie-going venues and it's a shame they will no longer be utilized for that purpose. Of course, I've seen some theaters just shuttered for so long they fell apart, so I'll hope that these two are still put to good use. The area looks busy and active. I have some of my own memories from my teens and twenties of places that are no longer physically present, or not in the way they used to be. All the changes just keep piling up , the same as the years written on the birthday cake! Thanks for showing us the theaters beforeā€¦
