Nook-ing!

It was a delightful surprise. I did not expect to like the "Nook" from Barnes and Noble. In fact, I told Robert many times that I did not want to read on a screen, and that was all there was to it. As I said in the video, I really like to hold the book that I'm reading.

But, eventually, my book purchasing habit became problematic even for me. Everytime I dropped off a bag of books at Goodwill, I saw money going down the drain. So I was finally ready to try the Nook.

And once I got used to it, I rather liked it! Though the Nook is not a book, it is a very close second, and allows me to drag around very heavy books on a moment's notice - all the time!

Also, I'm excited to travel with my Nook! I like to have several choices to read when I travel. And I always like to take a comfort book with me too (thinking about you Outlander ) so this will work wonderfully for that. I can take a whole library with me!

While purchasing on the Nook does limit you to stock from Barnes and Noble, I actually don't think that this is such a bad idea. First, I want to support Amazon as little as possible, and second, Barnes and Noble has similar stock to Amazon, so I don't feel deprived in that regard either.

It's a brave, new world, I guess. I can't imagine what my grandparents would think about this development. They lived in a time when books were expensive, precious things. And here I am ordering them through the ether.

Honestly, I'm not going to think about it too much. All I know is that it solved my "high volume" reader problem, (though I still plan on buying real books for certain things), and I look forward to my Nook time each evening.

That's good enough for me.
