Tea Rant !!!

Plus besides all the indignities that I detail in the video -- here's one that really gets my goat. Has this ever happened to you?


When you order tea in a fancy place, they bring it in a tall pot ( A POT THAT IS USED FOR COFFEE) and the water in the pot, and thus your tea tastes just like coffee. The tea is really undrinkable! It's completely disrespectful to the tea drinker!

Hi Jill, you're so right... tea is an afterthought at many U.S. restaurants. Not that they will have it on offer, but have you tried rooibos tea? It's naturally caffeine-free, which means one doesn't need to be concerned about how the brand decaffeinates its tea. (Rooibos also doesn't stain teeth, a nice little bonus.)

I share your thoughts about tea completely! I’m English by birth but am now a naturalized citizen of the USA. When you request tea here in the south you have to say “hot tea” otherwise you get iced tea. Here is my tip: take along a teabag of your favorite tea when you eat out. Say you have your own teabag and request hot water only (ideally boiling hot but that is another subject). They shouldn’t charge you but if they do I usually think less of the eating venue but it’s worth ot to get a good cup of something you enjoy. Sometimes when I am back in England I forget and ask for “hot tea” and they look…
